Dr. Aimee Beger – Starting in January, 2014

Starting in January, 2014, Aimee Beger will join the team of Oasis Animal Hospital. Below is her brief professional biography.

Dr. Aimee Beger is originally from a small town just north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  As an only child, she spent much of her time with her four-legged “siblings”.  The close bond that she shared with them gave her insight and an understanding of how pets are an integral part of the family.  After high school she moved to Arizona, escaping the sub-zero winters, to attend Arizona State University.  She graduated in 1993 from Arizona State University earning both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science. With a degree in French and a second in Recreation Management, Dr. Beger worked as an interpreter and a meeting planner in Scottsdale, before deciding to go back to college to obtain a veterinary degree. She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2003 and returned to Arizona to work as a small animal practitioner.  She has worked in the Valley of the Sun for over 10 years.

Dr. Beger’s favorite part of being your veterinarian is helping to strengthen the bond between you and your pets, as well as preserving their quality of life. She feels communication and education about a pet’s specific needs are crucial in achieving these goals. She is very willing to listen to client concerns and to work with you to ensure a healthy, happy lifestyle for your pets. Her professional interests include Feline Medicine, Preventative Medicine, Dermatology with an emphasis on Allergies, and Arthritis Management. Dr. Beger is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.

Her personal interests include: movies, traveling, hiking, and antiquing. She currently shares her home with five pets: Pilot the Schnoodle, Aussie the Australian Shephard mix, and her three cats: Little Mister, Charlie and Tootsie.   Dr. Beger is very enthusiastic about becoming the newest family member to Oasis Animal Hospital and she looks forward to meeting you and your four-legged kids!

When deciding to spend our first winter in Arizona, it was a “no-brainer” to bring our 2 dogs and 4 kitties; they are crucial members of our family. Our 13-year-old kitty, Newton, needed to see a vet ASAP as he has suffered with severe allergies most of his life. The vets back home relied on steroid injections when a limited diet program did not work. Newt was getting these injections every three to four weeks for over ten years and no other alternatives were never explained to us–only the dangerous side effects of the injections. All we knew was that if Newt did not get his injection on time, he would itch to the point of mutilating himself. Upon arriving in Arizona in November, 2013 Newt saw Dr. Beger for the first time. After 2 visits with Dr. Beger, she was adamant in stopping the injections once and for all and starting him on Amitriptyline and Atopica. After all these years, Newt has never been better! Oasis and Chandler are VERY fortunate to have Dr. Beger. She truly understands what practicing “good medicine” means and is, in our opinion, an extremely competent veterinarian who sincerely cares about her patients. We wish you all the best and we will certainly miss you. THANK YOU FOR CARING FOR and HELPING OUR NEWTON!
